Meet the Chef

Liset Alfieri turned a childhood filled with pastries from her uncle's Alfonso renowned bakery "Dulcinea" in Ecuador into an vocation that became a full-time occupation.

When she arrived in California some two decades ago, she sold homemade cakes out of her home to friends and locals that had heard about her culinary creations, an entrepreneurial skill she picked up from her mother, who owned and ran a restaurant.

Liset admits to loving sweets to this day, but she's also an aficionado of Asian cuisine, having worked for and with celebrity chef and cookbook author Katie Chin for many years.

Along the way to becoming a private chef capable of handling all sorts of dietary needs and restrictions, she has also been a corporate chef, a professional cake designer (her dark chocolate fudge one is legendary and her own teenagers' favorite), and a culinary instructor.

She credits her wide-ranging palette to a trip her aunt and uncle took her on to Peru, considered one of the world's top culinary destinations. She describes it as "heaven," and has never lost her sense of wonder at what can be created in the kitchen.
